So I find it irresponsible for someone to inadvertently sabotage another person's ability to find work. But, of course, the strikers don't think about consequences such as that. I actually don't rely on physical mail for much of anything these days and as you suggest, more and more of business communication for consumers has been heading online--I always take the option to "turn off" paper copies when available. So I think this is definitely one of those cases where the strike could hurt the company more than it helps, by driving more and more basic communication into the interwebs.
